Focus: Marriage

“Fear of failing got in the way of me being able to see that marriage success is not about the husband’s or wife’s best efforts.  It kept me from seeing the beauty of taking my failing marriage to Christ and allowing him to fix it.  The Bible says “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 NKJV.  The Bible also commands “casting all your care upon Him [Christ], for He cares for you.  1 Peter 5:7 NKJV.  I wasn’t doing this.  What I would do is pray out of desperation, confess I am giving my marriage and husband to God.  I would listen long enough to get some instructions but eventually would settle back into my old ways of trying to fix it.  Why?  Because I wanted my marriage fixed as soon as possible so I could calm my ever-present fear of failure.”
