Finding Hope- “Behold, I am Doing a New Thing”

God brought this scripture to mind the other day, “Behold, I am doing a new thing, do you not perceive it?  I will make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19, more specifically the word, Behold. I had never looked up the original meaning of the word, but according to the original Greek text, the definition is simply, “see.”  Reading through the scriptures and studying the countless promises of God, this simple word, gave me a reminder of what He is saying to us, “Daughter, look at this.  Don’t look at the world, at your circumstances, at the limitations and challenges in front of you.  Don’t be confused and tossed about like the waves in what everyone else is chasing, but focus on this promise, My words, that I gave so that you have a steadfast hope to cling to.  Pay attention, this is important!”

In the podcast, Brilliant Perspectives by Graham Cooke, he shared “Challenges and problems provide limitations. A promise makes life unlimited.”

We see our mess, our valley, our desert season, right?  We see the obstacles, experience the limitations and the let downs.  We lack the clarity and peace to see the full picture, the path ahead, sometimes even the energy to take more than one step ahead.  BUT GOD.  God has gone before us, far beyond past where we are, our feelings, and our circumstances and has given us all these promises so that we can trust Him, and rely on Him as He calls to us from our future, but also guides us every step through the valley, through the desert, into the “more” that He has for us.  Behold sister, He is doing a new thing. It may feel like pruning. It may feel like going into a desert with the uncertainty of how you will eat. Maybe it looks like a lot of tears and uncertainty as you weigh out all elements involved. Seek Him. Turn on some worship music, get in the word, sit quietly and wait for Him.  Behold, He is at work, He is refining you for your future, and so faithfully offering His hand to lead you through this season too. See what He is doing.

Here are some promises that you can stand courageously + victoriously upon today:

  1. Exodus 14:14– “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still”
  2. Isaiah 40:29– “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
  3. Isaiah 41:13- “For I am the Lord your God
who takes hold of your right hand
    and says to you, Do not fear;
        I will help you.”
  4. 1 John 1:9-  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
  5. James 4:7– “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”‘
  6. John 3:36– “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”
  7. Malachi 3:10-  “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
  8. Psalm 27:1– “The Lord is my light and my salvation—
        whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?”
  9. Romans 8:28-“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.”
  10. Matthew 6:31-33– “ So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
